First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Prudential Assurance Singapore.
Management Trainee
Be careful with the company name as they use different ones online, so do your research. The job description was misleading, focusing only on HR duties and not mentioning the mandatory insurance exams and a two-year commitment as a Financial Advisor (FA). This felt like false advertising. The first interview is online, lasting about 50 minutes, with subsequent interviews conducted in person. The in-person interviews primarily involve a briefing on the role's responsibilities and earning potential, which seemed structured like an MLM scheme, emphasizing sales and recruitment bonuses to attract candidates. During the third interview, it was revealed that candidates must pay for four insurance exams themselves and pass them on the first try, which is unreasonable, especially since employment isn't official before these exams. When I declined the offer, they pressured me, claiming it's lucrative and that the FA requirement is only for two years, which I found hard to believe. They should stop trying to recruit fresh graduates into FA roles.
- Tell me about a significant failure and the lessons you took away from it.
Management Trainee
The hiring process was pretty enjoyable and quite the challenge. Here's how it went: First, we submitted our resumes. Then, there was an online video interview where you record yourself answering questions. Finally, there was an Assessment Centre, which I got through to. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and everyone was super friendly. It would have been helpful if they had been clearer about what they were looking for. While the listed qualifications for a management trainee role are often a bit vague, more specific qualities would have made it easier to prepare for the interviews. Still, I enjoyed it.
- Can you share an instance where you developed something from scratch?
Management Associate
The interview process involved a video interview, online games, and an assessment center. It was a quick process overall, with the assessment center being the most challenging part. The assessment center lasted about 6 hours and included a solo activity, a group activity, and networking. The video interview was similar to Hirevue, asking basic behavioral fit questions. The online games were like pymetrics but not too difficult.
