First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Progressive Insurance.
Sales Representative
It was a recorded interview with some prompts, and then a phone interview with the recruiter. They'll let you know if they're going to make an offer. It was a few steps but pretty straightforward and chill. Just be ready for some situational questions.
- Can you provide an instance of value-based selling?
Inbound Sales Representative
I had to answer 8 prerecorded behavioral questions. I got two tries to record my 3-minute answers, and they had to be in STAR format. I wish I had more time to prepare, I think I could have done better. But I did get invited to the next round, so it was probably okay. There are some useful YouTube videos on how to prep for behavioral questions and the STAR method, I'd recommend watching those a few days before.
- Can you tell me about a situation where you had to deal with conflicting information simultaneously and how you resolved it?
Sales Representative
The recruiter seemed very serious and her tone was monotone, not upbeat or excited. She responded to my answers mostly with "okay". It was a phone call that lasted almost 40 minutes and it felt nerve wrecking because of her tone. I have experience in insurance and sales, and I'm hoping to get an email for the next interview. She said I'd hear back in a few days about whether I'm moving forward. Honestly, if the recruiter had been more cheerful and friendly, I would have felt more comfortable and happier about applying.
- Can you tell me what you know about Progressive?
- Tell me about your experience in insurance and sales.
- Can you share some examples using the STAR method?
