First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Progressive Insurance.
Insurance Agent
We had a Zoom interview, then a face-to-face interview, and a phone interview. We also had training meetings where we went over the schedule, and they went over questions. They asked me to explain my background and school experiences. They also asked why I want to work there, about the company background, the benefits package, and vacation time.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working with us?
- Could you share details about your background and educational experiences?
Insurance Agent
Applied and immediately received an interview request. Completed the video same day. Waited over a month for someone to watch the video and send a rejection email, stating you can ask for feedback. I did but never heard back. The whole process seems unrealistic. I have work for the last 5 years as a licensed agent, even writing through Progressive, hold several offices/business associate degrees, have experience working from home thanks to the pandemic, feel I nailed the interview and still wasn't offered the position. I'm not sure what they are looking for.
- Tell me about a tough situation you faced and how you managed it.

I applied online. The next day, I got an email to do a HireVue video interview. I had 6 days to do it. Progressive sent videos about the hiring and video interview process. I spent 3 days studying the STAR method on YouTube and then submitted my video interview. On the same day, I got an email to schedule a phone interview for the following week. During the phone interview, the recruiter went over my background and the job description and asked four more STAR questions. They made me a contingent offer at the end of the call, and I accepted. An email followed with the next steps and background check. The background check took about 11 days. Then I got an email saying my background was received and I'd hear from a recruiter in a few weeks about the next steps. It's been a week, and I'm still waiting to finalize the offer and sign the contract. So far, the whole process has taken a month and is still ongoing.
- Can you describe a challenging work situation you encountered and explain how you resolved it?
