Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Progressive Insurance.
Analyst
The interview process at Progressive was really well put together and organized. Every part of it felt clear and planned out. All the interviewers I talked to knew their stuff, paid attention, were polite, and acted professionally, making it a smooth and positive experience. If you're interviewing with Progressive, I really suggest using the STAR method. Get your technical experiences ready and written out in the Situation–Task–Action–Result format. Have about 10-12 good examples ready to go. This will help you explain your accomplishments and show your skills. Overall, it was a great and impressive interview.
- In a situation like X, how would you react? How would you handle a tough customer or deal with resistance from a peer?
- Prepare your technical experiences using the STAR method.
Senior Analyst
The recruiters were great, really friendly and kept me in the loop. After that, I spoke with the hiring team, and those conversations went well. Then, there was radio silence until I got a rejection email. It would've been cool to get some kind of update or feedback after the interviews.
- Tell me about an accomplishment you're most proud of and explain your reasoning.
Claims Analyst
I started with a recruiter phone screen. Then I took an analyst IQ test on the computer, it had 50 questions and I had 12 minutes. After that, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager where we talked about my previous jobs. They were going to have me come in for a face to face interview, but they ended up offering the job to someone else before that happened.
- Can you describe the most intricate Excel spreadsheet you've used?
