Data Scientist
Had a 30-minute call with the recruiter who found me on LinkedIn. They went over the job and what the role is about. Then, there was a 3-hour Codility test that was pretty straightforward, involving Python and SQL. After that, a 2.5-hour assessment with the hiring manager and a recruiter to check my skills and experience for the role. This was followed by a take-home assessment that I had to withdraw from because it was very demanding and I couldn't commit the time. The final interview was N/A.
- Can you write a SQL query to find the second session ID for users who visited for the first time in January of a specific year?
- Given an unsorted array of consecutive numbers starting from 0, how would you find the missing number?
Data Scientist
The hiring process was a bit lengthy. I was contacted by a recruiter who was quite responsible and easy to work with. We began with a brief phone screening. After that, there was a Codility test, which I didn't pass because I got flustered by a really basic but tricky statistics question. I'm usually okay with coding, but that stumped me. They also asked me about machine learning, and while I thought my answers were good, they felt my practical ML experience wasn't strong enough, which isn't too surprising given how many people claim expertise in ML these days.
- Can you solve the valid parenthesis problem?
- How would you approach a simple statistics or probability question?
- What are your thoughts on validating and measuring the performance of ML models?
Data Scientist
I had an initial hr call where the recruiter was late and didn't admit it, but then said 'no worries'. She didn't seem to understand the tech questions she asked and was rude. It's a shame the company has someone like this as a first impression. I hope she's not representative of the company culture since she lacks people skills for a role requiring communication.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
