I got invited to Proclinical’s office in Liverpool Street for the first interview. It was actually two interviews in one go - one with the permanent team and another with the contract team. Everyone I met was really nice, welcoming, and professional, which made it a good and engaging experience. After that, I had a second interview over Microsoft Teams. I didn't make it past this stage, so I'm not sure if there was a final round, but they did give me some useful feedback. All in all, it was a well-organized, clear, and really good experience.

A recruiter from Philadelphia reached out to me on LinkedIn about a People Operations Manager role at CluePoints. I was interested, but the recruiter gave a really bad candidate experience. Two red flags: 1) She asked me to write a summary of my qualifications and pushed me twice in one day to finish it so she could submit it to the hiring manager. I told her I needed time to review the job description. Her pushiness made me feel like she just wants to fill roles without understanding candidates. I also found this unusual, as I've never been asked this by a staffing agency, and I believe they should vouch for you. 2) The recruiter provided very little communication and no updates on the role. Over 1.5 months (she first contacted me 1/16/24), I reached out twice on LinkedIn and twice via email for an update, and she ignored me twice. My follow-ups were 1-2 weeks apart, which I think is reasonable, especially for a role through a staffing agency. As someone in HR, I expect timely updates, particularly when partnering on a role. Please consider your actions and treat candidates professionally. How can you build relationships if you treat people like numbers? It's unbelievable.

It was a 3-step process. First, a quick call with the recruiter. Then, a formal interview with the team lead where we discussed my experience and some behavioral questions. After that, I had another formal interview with the VP, focusing on behavioral and experience questions. The recruiter reached out after the third interview with an offer. I got plenty of feedback throughout the process, which was great!

Behavioral Technical Case

The process was super fast. I knew I wanted to work in a science-focused field and reached out via email. A few days later, I had a phone call to ask questions about the company. After that call, I got enough good info about the company and its culture, so I applied. They invited me to their office the next week. Everyone I interacted with, from the first phone chat to the interviewers, was really respectful, interested, and seemed to genuinely care about me as a person and applicant. The interview itself was challenging. I met with two team leaders who talked with me about how I'd fit in. It was mostly competency-based questions, but we also had a lot of open discussion about the company and my interests. My tip: be really prepared. Even though it never felt stressful or scary, I think it would have been tough if I hadn't prepared well. But I think the staff enjoyed my knowledge and my real interest/passion for their work, making the interview tough but really good for everyone involved. Unfortunately, I had another opportunity come up, so I didn't continue with PC. I interviewed with 5 other recruiting companies before them, and PC was by far the most positive, challenging, and fun.
