First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PrimePay.
Software Development Manager
There were 3 rounds for this role. First, the Hiring Manager had a call to chat about the job. Then, a technical phone screen happened, followed by a face-to-face interview that mostly focused on case study type questions and non-technical aspects.
- The questions asked were primarily case scenarios, given it was a lead position.
Implementation Consultant
The application process for this role was quite lengthy and involved outdated assessment tests. Initially, there was a 15-minute timed aptitude test with math and logic puzzles, followed by a personality test. This personality test included generic statements like 'do I get angry easily' and 'I mostly think I'm a good person,' where you had to rate your agreement on a scale. Given the job level, the application process took too much time and didn't really reflect the actual skills needed for the Implementation Consultant position. After all the extra effort required for the application, the company didn't even follow up with any communication. Whoever is responsible for screening candidates needs to improve their methods, as there are much better ways to find strong, relevant candidates.

Implementation Project Manager
So, during the first interview, they told me the salary would be $85k. Then, after a few weeks, the hiring manager called and said they wanted to offer me the job. But, she mentioned the offer letter would be $5k less than we talked about and if I had issues, I'd have to tell them in writing. I took that as a hint to negotiate. When I emailed her back about why I thought I deserved the extra $5k, she rejected my offer and said good luck. Honestly, I dodged a bullet and just wanted to warn others. I thought it was really unprofessional and a waste of time. I even did a second interview while I was on vacation. And for a payroll/benefits company, their benefits are terrible.
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
- Describe a situation you encountered and how you handled it.
- What is an aptitude test?
Outside Sales Representative
The recruiter called and went over my background, which is the same as on my resume, but it needed to be voiced. The process ended there. Apparently, having previous payroll sales experience, meeting sales targets, and earning President's Club wasn't enough to move forward at this company. The outside sales role at PrimePay is always posted. Honestly, they lack the name recognition to compete with giants like ADP, Paychex, Paycom, Paycor, and the local players. They must have a lot of turnover internally, which is why the sales position is always open.
- Could you describe your sales process?
