First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Presence Health.
Registered Nurse
I was first contacted by HR for an interview a long time ago. Then, the department manager interviewed me. They didn't do a peer interview, even though many units do that now. It felt like a standard interview, nothing unexpected. The people were very welcoming when I arrived, but now everyone is different. All the departments have merged with other facilities, so the managers are running off-site locations and are generally unavailable for anything or anyone.

Registered Nurse
Got a call back 1-2 days after submitting my resume. The HR interview was straightforward. They asked about my preferences for a manager and went over the pay rates. The interview process overall was simple, with down-to-earth questions like how to handle challenging patients or families, and they threw in a simple scenario question. The peer interview wasn't really an interview; they didn't ask any questions and mostly just talked about the unit culture.
- What action would you take if a patient on a non-rebreather mask were to desaturate?
- What qualities do you seek in a manager?
- Describe your approach to managing difficult patients and/or their families.
Registered Nurse
The orientation was disorganized, and I didn't get a designated preceptor. They didn't give me the competency packet that they were supposed to, so I had to start from scratch when they finally realized I needed to be checked off on the skills list. As a novice nurse, this was intimidating and discouraging. Luckily, most of the preceptors were resourceful, committed, and knowledgeable.
- Can you describe a time you handled an emergency situation and provide an example?
