Preqin Operations Associate Interview Questions
& Process

I went through five interview rounds at Preqin. First was an English test, then a phone chat. After that, there was a research and Excel test. The next step was a techno-managerial discussion. It took about 15 days to reach the HR interview, which was the last stage. The first round had 15 simple questions. Round two was all about past job experience. The third round had a 50-minute research test. The fourth step was a 20-minute chat with a team in London. The fifth round was about salary, benefits, and when I could start.

So the interview process had 4 rounds in total, with both technical and non-technical questions. The first round was about basic Excel skills. The second round focused on English grammar and reading comprehension through passages. Then, the third round delved into advanced Excel topics and research skills. The final round was a face-to-face interview with the UK-based team, covering company domain knowledge like alternative investments and asset classes. I successfully completed all these rounds. However, after submitting my documents, I was informed that I didn't clear the last round. When I asked for feedback, the recruiter mentioned they didn't have specific feedback and my name wasn't on the shortlisted list, which was a really disappointing experience.

It was the worst interview days i ever had. U need really patience to get through all the rounds, It took almost 2 months for me to get final results. They really test our patience. Totally i had 4 rounds. First telephonic round which was quite normal, asking about prior experience. Second it was another telephonic discussion with hiring manager, this was lil bit technical & understanding about alternate assets. Third was Technical assessment contains Advanced ms excel questions and 100 words about alternative assets questions, which was quite difficult to clear. Last round was video call with US team, you can get questions about past experience and deep knowledge about finance. This is where they take out most of the people. I answered all their questions really well with good communication, But they put me on hold , i didn't selected nor rejected. I dont know where i did mistake, i performed too good, but they put me on hold. They're expecting a PG degree in Finance. On the same day, my hr told , I've been kept on hold, he himself don't know what could happens next. Their selection process is completely in US team hands. I was waited for 1 month, still they're saying im in hold. I got fed up of asking follow up messaging to my hr, but no proper response. because of this i rejected my other company's offer. So please dont wait if they said, u r on hold, u won't get any calls. try for different company. Completely waste of time, i wasted 2 months.
