The whole process took more than two months. Sometimes the recruiter was hard to reach, probably because it's a startup and they're short-staffed. They also need to make sure they're hiring the right people for senior management. The last person I spoke with was a director who, shockingly, has a felony record as a registered sex offender. This really made me question if I wanted to work there, especially thinking about asking for a reference later. Despite that, the interviews themselves were pretty good, and everyone seemed genuinely enthusiastic about their jobs.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- What are your thoughts on how you'd integrate into the company's culture?
Technical Writer
I had two phone interviews, one with HR and another with a project manager. Then, there was a 2.5-hour in-person interview with three people. The experience was a bit unprofessional because one interviewer was late, rude to his coworker, and generally unpleasant during the interview. He interrupted me a lot, complained about my current employer, and didn't have many answers, which was surprising since he'd only been there a few months. While I don't mind not getting an offer, the lack of professionalism was notable. The other interviewers were good, but it was concerning that the company was represented by someone so unprofessional so early in their tenure.
- What are your career aspirations for the next three years?
Content Marketing Manager
PrecisionHawk seemed like a good place to work, but the interview process was disorganized. A recruiter reached out, but was often unresponsive and took two weeks to schedule a brief call. Then, it took three weeks to arrange an interview with the hiring manager. That interview went well, and I was enthusiastic about the role and company. However, after checking in with the recruiter about the next steps, I was informed that hiring for the position was delayed by two months. A month later, the hiring manager contacted me for a Skype interview (since I was out of state), but I never received any further communication from the company, even after sending a follow-up email after the second interview.
- What are your thoughts on working for a startup company?
Account Manager
The interview process was very smooth and organized. The hiring manager was very open to working with me on my schedule and communicated things very well. The questions were the typical behavioral that you should expect for a client facing position and it was not repetitive.
- How do you handle pressure?
- How would you inform a client about an issue?
