Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pratt & Whitney.
Quality Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward. However, the overall management and organization were a complete mess. It was very misleading because they told me right after the interview that they were working on my offer, making it seem like I was selected and would get the offer letter soon. That didn't happen, and I was later told I wasn't selected. It was an unprofessional experience that deceived me and wasted my time. So, unless you have the offer in your hand, don't believe what the hiring team says.
- Can you discuss your resume and experience?
- Please elaborate on the details mentioned in your resume.
Quality Assurance Analyst
My friend applied to P&W(SG) for a Quality management internship. It was for a local grad with an engineering major. The interview was very informal and straightforward. There were three interviewers: an HR manager, a QM manager, and an HR assistant. They mostly asked typical behavioural questions. Since my friend participated in an overseas summer study program, they inquired about that experience. They also asked if he knew about C++ programming.
- Could you elaborate on your overseas summer study programme?
- What is your familiarity with C++ programming?
Quality Engineer
The whole process took about an hour and I only met with my direct manager. It was a comfortable experience, but I felt like he/she was looking for specific answers. Disagreeing with his/her opinion might have cost me the job, but it all worked out fine. The 1:1 format made things simple and fast, but it has drawbacks. If you didn't get along well with the direct manager but were a good fit for another role, you might go unnoticed since you're not interviewing with HR or other colleagues. You'd have to apply for other jobs yourself instead of HR finding a spot for you.
- How would you define quality?
