Asset Management Engineer
The interview process spanned three months in total. It began with a video interview where I was asked general and behavioral questions. This was followed by an onsite interview where I met with three Engineers. The waiting period between stages was quite agonizing.
- What is motivating your job search away from your present position?
Integrator
This was a "Targeted Selection" interview. Look that up if you want the full scoop. Basically, they ask open-ended questions to get you to talk about experiences that show you have the key skills for the job. I'm a team lead in IT now, managing four developers, and I do annual performance reviews on them covering 10 competencies like customer focus, reliability, technical skills, and DEI stuff.
- Describe a process you made cheaper or faster.
Transmission Operator
I applied online for the Transmission Operator role but got a rejection email initially. However, I was contacted the same day to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone screen happened a few days later with a panel (about 25 mins), but the hiring manager had to leave early for a meeting. After a week of no word, I followed up and mentioned I was nearby, so they scheduled an on-site interview for a few days later. The on-site interview was with the same panel, but without the hiring manager. They asked for STAR format answers. It seemed to go well and they said they'd be in touch within 2-3 weeks. It's been over 10 weeks and I still haven't heard back.
- Can you tell me about a situation where you disagreed with your manager's decision and how you addressed it?
- Share an example of a time you worked on a project that was outside of your usual job duties.
Engineer
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. We had some good chats, and then I interviewed at their HQ. The first interview started late because the interviewer was behind schedule. They asked me to walk through my resume, which seemed like they hadn't seen it before. I tried to make it a more natural conversation, but they were pretty strict. They didn't offer me a drink, but they all had one. The behavioral questions were alright. It seemed like a decent interview, and I got positive feedback, with them saying I'd fit a few roles. But you can only cover so much in under 90 minutes.
- Can you share an instance where you received harsh feedback?
- What do your colleagues think are your strengths and weaknesses?
- How do you manage work resources?
