Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PPD.
Commercial Analyst
I got an email from the recruiter saying they were interested and wanted to set up an on-site for the next week. They sent me a 2-hour agenda. First, I talked to the recruiter, then I had three interviews with people from the department. PPD does this targeted selection thing where they ask 'What would you do if...' a lot, and also asked about my past work experiences. A few questions were repeated across the three interviews, so I ended up telling the same stories a bunch.
- Describe a situation where you handled a challenging customer with unreasonable expectations.
Commercial Analyst
First, a recruiter does a phone screen. Then, you'll have multiple interviews with different managers, sometimes more than one at once. This is the usual process. The company has in-house recruiters that screen you first. You'll then interview with various managers and teams. Depending on the role, you might have to do a skills test.
- Tell me about a time you had to manage conflict.
Financial Analyst
It was 3 rounds of interviews, all back-to-back. Each round had more interviewers than the last: R1 - 2 interviewers | R2 - 4 interviewers | R3 - 5 interviewers. In each round, they talked about different roles in the company and how they interacted with the job I was interviewing for.
- Can you describe your current job duties and explain how your experience at your current company would help you succeed in this role?
