There was a phone call to start, and then some back and forth over email. If they liked my application, I might have been invited to the office. The conversation with the HR person was totally different from how they sounded in the emails, and they were pretty harsh.

I was referred by a friend and after the phone interview, it took ages to schedule the in-person one. It's been over two weeks since the interview and I'm still waiting to hear back from HR. I've decided to withdraw my application since I have a decent job close to home. It's a shame because they seem to be hiring for a lot of roles, but if they are this disorganized and slow to make decisions, what's the point? The office itself is laid-back but a bit messy and not conveniently located.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Had 2 interviews. First was a phone call with the hiring manager and the Head of Product, lasted about an hour. They mentioned they were looking for a product designer who was more execution focused since some projects might not have time for user research. The second interview was on-site, lasting 2 hours with a Product Manager and the Founding Designer. It was a good interview and the office was nice. They didn't move forward because they needed someone who could identify how to compile user data analysis and had more hands-on design ability. Overall, it was an okay experience, though frustrating due to conflicting information.

Technical Coding System Design

I applied on AngelList and the entire process from application to offer took about 4 weeks. It was pretty standard for a tech company: first a recruiter call, then a technical phone interview, followed by on-site interviews.
