First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PowerPlan.

First there was a phone screening. Then a panel interview with different levels of interviewers where they assessed your personality and experience. The whole process took about 3 weeks.
- What made you decide to apply to Powerplan?
- Could you tell me how you found out about this opportunity?
- Can you answer some technical questions related to SQL?
Project Manager
A recruiter reached out to me about this role. I went through three interview rounds. First, I spoke with a potential colleague. Then, I had a panel phone screen with three people. The final round was with the hiring manager, which was unique because they let me ask all my questions first. Even though I don't think I got the job because the recruiter ghosted me, I appreciate the interview opportunity. However, the lack of feedback and follow-up from the recruiter was really unprofessional.
- How would you handle a situation where your project's scope changes?

So the first part was a phone screen with a manager from a department, not HR, so they hit me with more technical stuff about my resume. It was conversational but got into the weeds about my past projects and internships and my choices. Then, the second round was a panel interview with some mid to senior leaders. They all took turns asking resume questions, pretty standard stuff, but in-depth. At the end, there was a 15-minute technical bit where they asked about joining databases, basic SQL, and the definition of joins. I didn't get through that round, but I think there was another round after that. I did get a rejection email after checking in with the recruiter.
- What's the difference between outer and inner joins?
- Can you explain generally how you'd code joins?
- Why are you interested in this company?
Senior Consultant
I was first reached out by a recruiter via messages who was vague about the company. I asked for details but he didn't provide them, instead calling my personal number. He continued to be vague on the phone and downplayed my experience to offer a low salary. He promised to follow up but didn't, so I reached out. He then sent me to another recruiter. The second recruiter was better and set up two meetings: one with a higher-level employee and another with a panel. The conversations went well, especially after the higher-level employee recommended I move forward. The panel said I'd hear back the next day, but after a few days of no word, I followed up. I was told the experience was positive but they went with another candidate. I asked for a call to understand their needs better due to contacts inquiring about the company, but I kept getting vague replies. I heard during the process that the company is trying to improve its processes and growth after losing staff. It seems like Glassdoor reviews reflect PowerPlan's challenges, but they haven't improved their processes. My feedback is that if the first interaction with recruiters is disrespectful, it's hard to believe the company is doing well internally.
- How would you approach taking over a project mid-way due to resource changes?
- Describe your experience.
- What steps would you take to gather requirements for an external interface?
