Had a phone interview. Waited a couple days to hear back from HR. Then got called in for the first interview with the VP of marketing for the area. It went great, and the people were really nice. I was invited back for a second interview two days later. They talked more about the position and mentioned I would start in marketing, which is basically door-to-door sales. This surprised me a bit, but it didn't deter me. They really emphasized that they're looking for people they can promote within the company and that there's massive growth potential.

I saw this listing on indeed.com many times and decided to submit my resume. I got a call back within 24 hours from someone from the Philadelphia office. I got an interview scheduled and did some research. The job is high pressure sales and client reviews were bad. Friends told me the company was triple the price of competitors and spent 7 hours in a client's home! The average age in the office was about 20. The first 4 weeks of training involved memorizing a 24-page script to say to clients.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The interview was so scripted it felt like I was talking to the micro machines guy from the commercials in the 80's.
  • The attempted repore building was a joke.

It was about a 30-minute initial chat. The person I spoke with was nice and professional, mostly trying to understand my past experience and how I work. I think I managed to make it feel like a casual talk with the marketing director. I didn't get to ask everything I wanted to, but I'll make sure to do that in the next interview. Just be professional, do your homework on the company, and highlight what drew you to this specific role.
