Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Postlight.
Product Management Director
The candidate experience was top shelf. Bec, the company's lead recruiter, is both a rock star and an outstanding representative for Postlight. She guided the process effectively, set clear expectations re: procedural steps, demonstrated a deep understand of both the company's operations and needs, and was so timely with her responses that often times she had already booked next steps before I was able to send a thank you! Bec made me feel valued as a candidate and excited to join Postlight, and I appreciated her candor throughout the process. Since joining Postlight, the company and its culture has both met and exceeded the lofty expectations set by Bec. The process itself included an initial screening with Bec (recruiting), an interview with the hiring manager, a challenge/case study presentation (for which I was presented with a $200 gift card in recognition of my time), a leadership-focused interview with 2 members of the SLT, a collaboration-focused interview with members of the Design and Engineering teams, and an executive-level interview with Postlight's CEO and President.
- Can you share an instance where you needed to secure agreement from several stakeholders before proceeding with a plan?
Product Manager
I had a really open, friendly, and fast interview process at Postlight. The interviews were pretty tough but professional and gave me a good feel for the role. They kept me updated fast and clear, and were cool with my scheduling needs. It started with a chat with two PMs who asked typical PM behavior questions. After that, I got a paid take-home product case study that took a few hours. Then, I presented my case study work to two PMs and answered their questions. The last round had 3 interviews, each with two people from different departments (design, eng, strategy, etc.). I got an offer a few days later.
- Develop a presentation outlining your concepts and project plan for a product requested by a client.
Product Manager
The hiring process began with a recruiter screening call, followed by a discussion with the department head. Next, I had to prepare and deliver a presentation to two team members. The final stage involved meeting people from other teams. Postlight was mindful of the lengthy process and even compensated me for my time at a certain point, which was a unique and appreciated gesture. The recruiter was exceptionally communicative and kept me informed throughout, making them one of the best hiring partners I've encountered.
- What's your approach to handling conflicting priorities or needs from both internal teams and external clients?
