Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Posse Foundation.

The first interview was a group session where a question was posed, and in small groups, we each had 30 seconds to answer. The Posse staff observed and noted responses, seeming to favor candidates based on 'vibes' rather than their actual experience. Following this, there was a second round, a one-on-one interview. Standard questions were asked, but ultimately, I didn't get the job.

The interview happens on Zoom and includes a mix of current employees and people applying for the job. First, you'll do a quick intro for everyone. Then, applicants go into breakout rooms for a session where everyone answers questions for about 30-45 seconds each, taking turns. While this is happening, one staff person will just watch, and another will keep an eye on the clock. Near the end, you get about 10 minutes to ask the staff any questions you might have. In total, there are three interview rounds before you get an offer.
- Can you share about your college experience and what you're most proud of?
- Tell me about a work challenge you faced and how you handled it.
- What are your thoughts on 'Diversity Standards in Education'?

So, the interview process started with a group thing, right? First, they wanted to see if I'd fit into the company vibe. We got split into little groups and did this 'Posse classic exercise'. Each person in the group had one minute to answer a question, and then it rotated so everyone got a turn. I guess they wanted to see our real reactions and how we'd work in a team. The staff were watching and writing stuff down. That was the main part of the group interview, then we had a general Q&A. The second interview was more like a normal 1:1 chat with the Program Team, and then another one with the Director. We chatted about my resume stuff, why I wanted this job, and how it fit my career plans. For the third interview, I had to show off my facilitation skills. It was a pretty cool experience overall. I thought it was a neat way to get to know candidates and a lot of the team was involved. This three-round setup totally fits with how they pick Scholars. The staff learn about your professional background from your cover letter and resume, but they also get to know you as a person and see if you'd mesh with the team. Everyone on the staff was super professional and really nice throughout every round.
- What behavioral questions do you have?
- Can you describe a scenario you faced?
