Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Portland General Electric.
Customer Service Associate
The interview process can take a bit because a recruiter will contact you first. But, the management team was easy to talk to and asked things that made sense for the job. I used the STAR method to answer and made sure to sound positive and consistent. It's also a good idea to ask them questions to show you're interested in the job.

Customer Service Representative
The interview process at PGE was a tandem interview. I thought it was interesting, but also a bit unsettling. I'm not sure if it impacted their decision not to hire me.

Customer Service Representative
So, the interview process starts with an online test, which I've had to do twice now. They used to do it in person, but now you can take it from home. Then there's a group interview with one manager and one HR person. They switch off asking questions, sometimes doing managerial ones, sometimes actual work-related ones. They specifically asked about handling calls and dealing with tough callers. The part that felt the weirdest was the role-playing; it seemed a bit childish and not really like how real customers actually call in.
- What do you do to manage stress?
- How do you balance stress from work and your home life?
