Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Policygenius.
Sales Associate
Submitted an online application, had a phone screen, and then an in person interview. The online app and phone screen were pretty standard -- covered my background, why I wanted the job, and details about the role. The in person interview was long, like 4 hours, but it was cool to meet people from different teams. Lots of talking, but they had breaks and it gave me a good feel for the people there. They finished with a quick assignment. Got an offer over the phone a few days later. The onboarding was super smooth and electronic, except for I-9 stuff.
- How is your experience with teamwork?
- Can you share an instance of problem solving?
- What is your work experience?
Sales Associate
I had a phone screen with the recruiter first, then a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, I went in for a long, almost 4-hour interview process at their office. This in-person part involved 6 interviews with 7 different people. It felt like they asked the same questions over and over. The whole thing took about a month. In the end, they said they didn't offer me the job because they wanted someone with more experience, which was really annoying since they knew my background the whole time. At least it was good practice, I guess. Oh, and be ready to work weekends, they require 11 weekend days per quarter.
- Can you share a story about a challenging work situation and how you navigated it?
- Describe a time you received feedback or criticism and how you responded to it.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join Policygenius?
Sales Associate
The interview process spanned approximately three weeks. I was initially contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn for this role. The in-person part of the interview lasted about 3.5 hours and involved meeting with six different people. The questions during this time were more focused on assessing my fit for the role rather than technical skills. The overall process also included two phone interviews. Interestingly, the role and salary were adjusted during the interview process, which I found a bit unusual given the recruiter initially reached out to me about this specific position.
- What workplace values do you consider important?
