First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Polaris FT.
Software Developer
Applied online. HR called to set up a phone technical evaluation. After that, HR let me know I was shortlisted. The next round never happened. After three weeks and many calls, they said the client rejected my profile without an in-person interview.
- Can you explain Reorgs?
- What are Views in Sybase?
- Tell me about lock escalation.
Software Engineer
The interview process started with an online test that had three sections: Aptitude, Java, and Database. It was okayish, and out of 70 people from my college, 16 got through. Next, there was a Group Discussion (GD) round where we were given a random topic, mine was to discuss why Indian students leave India for higher studies and better jobs. After the GD, 12 candidates were shortlisted for the interview. There was only one interview round, with two interviewers: one technical and one HR.
- They asked everything that is in your resume.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your future plans on higher studies or education?
Software Engineer
I was contacted by a staffing agency about a Senior Software Engineer position in .Net at Polaris. The process involved two rounds: a written technical test and a face-to-face technical interview. Everything was going well until the HR round. The HR person, who seemed older and had a rude demeanor, randomly brought up my third-to-last previous company where I worked for 2.5 years, 3 years ago. He questioned how that company paid my salary and whether they deducted Provident Fund. I explained that salary was transferred and that it might have been a small company in a small city, so they might not have deducted PF. He then questioned how a company not deducting PF could be genuine, speaking rudely. I responded that the company was registered, had been operating for 6 years, and I had formal letters from all previous employers, plus my current employer deducts PF. I also offered to get any documents required. However, he wouldn't listen and cut short my participation, stating I first needed to prove the older company wasn't fake. This was unexpected and disappointing, especially since I had excellent scores on the written and technical interviews (5/5 on the technology specialization test). I suspect he disqualified me on these grounds, or possibly due to caste or gender bias, given his dismissive attitude, even though I'm usually very polite. It felt like he was looking for reasons to disqualify candidates, as these issues seemed unrelated to my qualifications.
- Could you explain why your Provident Fund wasn't deducted?
- How can you prove that a company that doesn't deduct PF is legitimate?
- What was the payment method used by your former employer?
