The first step was a technical phone interview. They asked standard questions covering Perl, Unix, and shell scripting. The questions ranged from basic functional programming in Perl to more advanced object-oriented programming concepts in Perl.

The interview process kicked off with an HR screening where a very nice HR person asked about why I'm looking for a new job and other standard background questions. Then, I had a long meeting with supervisors and subject matter experts from the business side. This part was heavy on checking my concepts and how well I know the functions. After that, there was a brief chat with the Project Director. The PD's chat was mainly to see if I'd be a good fit for the company and how I could add value overall, and also to give me more details about the job. The final step was just to talk about salary and confirm if I'm a good fit.

I went for a walk-in interview at Polaris. It had three rounds. The first was a technical interview, pretty standard questions, which I passed easily. Then came the managerial round, which was a bit tough, with the manager asking about real-life problems requiring quick thinking. I passed that too. Finally, the HR round involved standard HR questions, and I got the job.
