Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PointClickCare.
UX Researcher
I went through 3 interviews: first, an HR screen, then a case study interview, and finally a hiring manager interview. It took a month between the second and third interviews because they were really hard to schedule. I felt pretty ready for the interviews, but the long, slow process made me a bit nervous.
- Describe your research approach.
- How do you handle competing research requests?
User Experience Designer
The interview involved two interviewers. I started by introducing myself, my background, and my projects. Then, I presented a case study I was particularly proud of. The interviewers asked clarifying questions and presented some challenges to my design thinking during the presentation. Finally, I had the opportunity to ask questions and received valuable feedback on suggestions for improvement.
- What do you enjoy most about UX design?
UX Designer
The interview process included one phone call and four in-person interviews. I felt the number of rounds was excessive for selecting a candidate. The initial phone interview was straightforward as I was speaking with a recruiter. The plan was for a three-round interview process, but an additional person, who was not initially part of the process, joined unexpectedly, which felt unfair. I was also tasked with creating mock-ups under a tight deadline. While all aspects of the process were communicated in advance, the fourth round was not mentioned beforehand, which was quite unexpected and unfair. It turned out that the person who joined the interview no longer works for the company. Checking their careers page a few months later, it seemed they had hired an intern UX designer, making this entire experience feel like a waste of my time. The office itself was quite nice, though.
- Can you describe your approach to design?
- Tell me about your experience working collaboratively in a team.
- What is your experience with adaptive design?
