The interview process kicked off with a recruiter call that was super informative, no real questions about my background, just a rundown of the job, benefits, pay, remote work, and company stuff. Then came a 30-minute meet-and-greet with the hiring manager, which also served as a technical pre-screen to make sure we were a good fit. After that, I had to complete a take-home assignment within 3 business days, where I needed to create a deck on how I'd reinvent the data product lifecycle at Pluralsight. The final round was a 1-hour panel interview with a Sr. Product Manager, Sr. Director of Data Services, and VP of Data Science, where I presented my take-home assignment and answered questions. I'm still waiting to hear back after just over 7 weeks since the final round.

I reached out to the internal tech recruiter at Pluralsight in May after getting a referral. He got back to me within a day to set up a chat. We talked for 30 minutes and I sent him my resume. He seemed really excited about my background and how it might fit some roles there. He told me to follow up in a week about any openings. I followed up a week later, then two, then four, six, eight, twelve, and sixteen weeks... no response so far. My take on recruiting is that if an internal recruiter can't even be polite and respectful to candidates, how would they treat employees? Salt Lake City is known for its nice people, and my Pluralsight experience doesn't seem to match that reputation.

I was contacted by an external recruiter for Pluralsight and the interview was conducted over video. I had a nice chat with the hiring manager, but then there was radio silence. I had to follow up with the recruiter twice before they said they would 'get back to me.' It's been a week and I still haven't heard anything, so I guess they aren't moving forward with my application. It's a shame they couldn't just send a quick message saying that. Given that the recruiter seemed to be an outside contractor and Pluralsight was recently acquired by a hedge fund, I suspect they might be prioritizing candidates from within their immediate network, even with 'Remote' roles available. I also recall reading a review from a former employee mentioning their manager always made them feel taken care of, which made me wonder about the company culture.
