HR reached out on Linkedin for an initial chat where I talked about my QA career. After they seemed happy, they set up an interview with the technical team. It was a really weird experience. I joined the Zoom call a minute early and the tech lead yelled at me for being too soon. When I rejoined a minute later, the vibe was awful. The QA team seemed really down and made condescending remarks about my career. They also said I'd need to work a lot of overtime, basically live for the job and have no personal life. Even with good pay, I declined because it felt like I'd be a slave.

The interview experience was really bad, it felt like I was being judged harshly. The interviewers seemed bored and arrogant. They asked me if I knew their product, and when I tried to answer well, they acted like they knew better. It was an unpleasant and adversarial environment.

The overall process was good, it was demanding but handled well. They made an uncompetitive offer, so we didn't move forward. Be ready for several rounds with a variety of people. Interviews don't always stick to the hierarchy and there can be huge time gaps between them.

  • Tell me about your most challenging experience.
  • What excites you about QA?
