First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Plum Market.
Cashier
Super easy! They want to see that you have good management and communication skills. I thought communication was the most important part, as it helped to avoid burnout and made the job enjoyable. The team was great and always willing to help out when someone needed it.
- What makes you want to be employed at this company?
Produce Clerk
It was quite easy. I started working there in Produce the day after the Restaurants were shut down because of COVID. I was there for 18 months until the private club I worked at reopened.
- Do you have produce experience?
Marketing Coordinator
I was emailed to set up an interview at Plum Market. My interview was scheduled for my day off but the recruiter Jennifer called an hour before to cancel. I rescheduled for the next week and had to wait a half hour past my scheduled time because one of the interviewers was late. The interviewers asked scripted questions. I didn't hear back for almost two weeks and then found out they moved on without notifying me. Rejection is fine but the unprofessionalism isn't.
- Can you describe your current boss?
Director
It was a pretty standard interview process. The first interview was with an HR manager, though that wasn't his official title. Then, I met with the owner for the second interview. He asked some questions that I know are illegal, like 'Do you plan on having kids?' and 'What kind of car do you drive?' -- the latter being okay only if it's about reliable transportation. I recognized these as illegal because I used to hire people myself.
- Have you ever had a boss who was difficult and irrational?
