Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Plato's Closet.
Manager
I didn't really have an interview process for this position since I was promoted from within the company. I did interview for a sales associate position years ago, but it wasn't a real interview. Two current employees conducted it, and I was hired based on my previous management experience.
- Can you describe your personal style and discuss current trends?
Assistant Manager
First, I applied online, which took hours and involved a lot of essay questions. Then, I got a quick reply for a phone interview, which was really easy. After that, it was an in-store interview, a one-on-one with the manager in the back room. It was super informal and easy, not planned at all. The manager was really casual. I felt like I was way overqualified. Finally, I had a one-on-one with the store owner off-site. It was intimidating, and they asked more formal questions.
- What would you do if someone stole something, and what punishment do you think they deserve?
Manager
It was relaxed, they made me feel comfortable and asked a lot of questions about trendy fashion. They explained the job well and what their expectations from me were. The staff working seemed to be enjoying their jobs and interacting well with management.
- What would your previous manager say about you?
