It was a pretty relaxed interview process with two rounds involving partners. There weren't any technical questions, just general behavioral ones about things like introducing yourself and different types of teamwork and leadership. The whole thing took about an hour, and the partners were nice.

After an initial phone screening where they decided I might be a good fit for the company, I was invited to continue with the interview process. I then had two separate 30-minute interviews with staff members. One interview was more of a conversation focused on my experience, while the other was more technical and centered on my coursework.

I first talked with recruiters at my University's career fair. I didn't get an interview on the spot like many accounting majors do with big 4/public accounting firms at my University's career fair, but I was selected as an alternate interviewee. Some spots opened up a few days later on the University's career center website so I took one. I interviewed with the office managing partner and a staff auditor at the same time, with the managing partner doing most of the talking. The interview started with the partner asking me why I wanted to get into public accounting. Then, I was drilled and asked to explain the differences between my major GPA versus my cumulative GPA. The interview then moved into a few behavioral/situational questions. Some questions were: Tell me about a time where you faced confrontation, talk about a group situation where you had to persuade the group into pursuing your ideas to reach the overall goal, describe your 3 best leadership qualities, and what is your biggest weakness as a leader? The partner and staff auditor then opened it up for questions I had about the firm. Often, I would ask a question about working for the firm and the partner would give a brief answer then rhetorically ask me the same question back about what I was looking for. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. At the end, the partner and staff stayed in the room and told me to leave. Many other firms I interviewed with at least walked you back to the lobby and wished you a good day.
