I interviewed for a Project Manager position via a consulting/staffing agency. The first round was a phone screen with a recruiter from the agency, who was very helpful and positive. Next, I had an interview with the Hiring Manager from Plains. The third round involved an interview with the Program Manager and Business Lead. I decided to withdraw my application after this third round because I received another job offer that aligned better with my career aspirations.

Recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn and I responded in under a day showing interest. We texted back and forth for a few days, I sent my resume and she said she would present it to the hiring manager. I followed up a few days later and still no response. It was super unprofessional from a recruiting perspective. Reject candidates if you are not interested, even though you were the one who sourced them from LinkedIn. It's a bad look.

Behavioral Presentation

I applied online and heard back from the hiring manager for a phone screening after two weeks. The next week, I was invited for an in-person interview. HR had mentioned an interview with the hiring manager and his manager. However, upon arrival, the PMO Director decided she also wanted to interview me, which hadn't been communicated beforehand. The interviews with the hiring manager and his manager went well. The PMO Director's interview was strange; she focused on my social skills and assertiveness, which seemed irrelevant for an Analyst role. She concluded by saying this was an initial screening and I might be called for a group/panel interview to test my skills. This whole process felt like a waste of time, especially the ad-hoc interview with the PMO Director.

I had a quick phone chat first. Then a few days later, they set up a specific in-person interview time. I confirmed I'd be there and sent back a PDF application they emailed. After that, the HR person just went silent and didn't answer my calls or emails about interview details. They only got in touch when I was already at their office for the interview, saying they were now working with a staffing agency and the job wasn't available. This is despite it still being advertised on their site. They could have just told me they weren't proceeding, but they waited till the last minute. It was pretty embarrassing and makes the company look bad.
