I was asked some standard questions about my past experience and how it related to the job. They wanted to know my approach to goals and my skills in organization, cold calling, and follow-up. I was also asked what my previous manager would say about me and what I think I could improve on. It seemed like a couple of rounds, maybe a recruiter call and then an interview with the hiring manager.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The manager used the pause test; in sales, whoever speaks first after a question is asked loses. It was a bit obvious and awkward, but I went through with it.

The interview process was pretty smooth. There were two interviews that were helpful and gave me a good understanding of the job's responsibilities. The hiring manager was great to talk to. HR was basically non-existent.

  • What was the hardest part of getting hired?
  • Why did they need my diplomas and tax returns?
  • Was the base salary offered (about a third of what I was making) acceptable?

I went through two face-to-face interviews within a week, each lasting about an hour, at their Atlanta satellite office. They weren't very interested in my past jobs or responsibilities but focused heavily on my Salesforce.com experience. They discussed the company and some of its challenges as a large corporation, which didn't sound appealing despite their 75% market share and base salaries of $55k-$65k. They initially said I'd hear back in 2-3 days, but I didn't get a response for 10 days, only to be told they were still interviewing. After following up weekly, I was eventually rejected with a vague 'decided to move in a different direction.' This lack of timely communication and respect made me dislike them, as it suggests a grim business practice.

  • Describe your proficiency and methods for using Salesforce.
