Recruiter
The interview process started with a phone screening by the corporate recruiter, who was excellent. After that, there were 4 more rounds of interviews: 3 virtual ones and then a final in-person meeting with all 3 interviewers. This part really dragged the process out too long.
- Can you tell me about your background and what your career goals are?
- In what ways would your friends and family describe you?
- Describe what your ideal Saturday would entail.
Recruiter
I found this role on Linked In and it was a phone screen. I gave the recruiter 3 availability slots but had to reschedule due to her needing to attend to her children. We found a better time that worked around her schedule. The call yesterday was about 20 minutes, and she spent a good portion talking about the company and background information. When it was my turn to discuss my experience, I felt she interrupted me while I was explaining the recruiting aspects of my previous roles. It seemed like she was looking for more detailed recruiting experience from me, even though I had mentioned from the start that my background is in a Healthcare billing office, not a dedicated recruiting firm. I clarified that I only have about 2 years of recruiting experience, and it only makes up about 40% of my job tasks, done on a bi-monthly basis and dependent on CEO hiring needs. She then quickly ended the call, mentioning that Patrick would make the final hiring decision. Overall, the call was okay, though it felt a bit unorganized.
- Could you describe your daily tasks at your previous job?
- Do you feel confident making rejection calls over the phone?
Recruiter
The interview process was quite thorough, but ultimately rewarding. Recognizing the competitive nature of the staffing industry, the Piper team ensured I understood the role's demands. They offered me the chance to visit their office and shadow their recruiters, providing a firsthand look at their operations. Additionally, the team invited me to lunch, giving us a chance to connect on a more personal level. I had the opportunity to meet with all the management team members before a final decision was made.
- They're interested in getting to know you as a person, not just a candidate.
- Some questions might touch on personal aspects, but you're not obligated to share anything you're not comfortable with.
- They appreciated and acknowledged answers that were more personal or unconventional.
