Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pipedrive.
Software Developer
The entire hiring process spanned almost a month, which was the longest I've experienced. It included five interviews and an automated cognitive assessment that was essentially a personality test and an IQ test. I didn't perform well on the IQ test because it was timed and you had to skip questions you couldn't answer quickly, which is counter to how I usually approach problems. It started with a brief recruiter call, followed by two technical interviews. The first technical interview had simple coding exercises, while the second focused on system design. The last two interviews were with lead developers or team leaders. These were the best parts because they didn't question my coding abilities. I realized the role wasn't the right fit and mentioned this in the final interview. The interviewer suggested another team might have a better opportunity, but a week later, the recruiter informed me they had changed their hiring strategy and no longer had a suitable position for me.
- What's your approach to implementing Google Search from a front-end standpoint?
Software Engineer
I was contacted by the hiring manager responsible for building the local team, mentioning a goal to hire 100 people within 3 years. Despite my lack of experience in their specific tech stack, he assured me it wouldn't be an issue, stating that 'a developer is a developer'. During the on-site interview, I met with him and a HR representative from headquarters. The HR rep discussed their aim for a diverse workforce and mentioned relocating employees from abroad, highlighting that they become the employees' 'family' when they leave their own behind, which felt a bit unsettling. A few hours post-interview, I received an email stating they chose other candidates with more relevant experience, contradicting the earlier 'developer is a developer' sentiment.
- Can you describe your past experience?
- What are your thoughts on how a team should collaborate effectively?
Software Developer
I interviewed there before, but decided to withdraw after the initial chat since I got another job offer. The first interview was pretty good though. It was with the recruiter and we talked about typical stuff like my previous experience, what I'm looking for, the work environment, and my personal goals.
- What would you say is your greatest weakness?
- What are your career aspirations?
