The interview was conducted over the phone. We first communicated electronically via email to schedule a time, coordinating across different time zones since I'm in PST and they were calling from elsewhere. It was a straightforward interview process.

A corporate recruiter reached out to me and communication was great. I interviewed with the Regional Manager. After that, I was told to clear my schedule for the next week for a walkthrough with the Travel Center General Manager, implying I was moving forward. However, within 90 minutes, the recruiter called back to say they hired someone else. This was frustrating and felt unprofessional, especially since they misled me by asking me to clear my schedule when they had already basically made a decision. I would have preferred a more direct statement like "I have another candidate I'm interested in" or "We're not interested." After the interview, when I tried to get feedback to help my job search, the recruiter stopped responding entirely, which was a contrast to the earlier "great communication."

I got an email from a Pilot Flying j recruiter asking for my availability in the next 10 business days for a phone interview. I replied and we set a time. When the recruiter called, he was really short and rude, saying he was super busy and only had 15 minutes because they're hiring so many people. He started asking about my work history and then put me on hold because his boss was calling. When he came back, he just kept asking why I left my old jobs. He got really rude and accusatory when I talked about leaving a job I'd been at for 12 years because of limited advancement. I explained I wanted more opportunity and started my own business, and he basically said he didn't understand because he's happy after 23 years and doesn't want more. He didn't ask anything about my responsibilities, management style, accomplishments, or any behavioral questions. He put me on hold again during our 15-20 minute chat. It was the most unprofessional interview ever, and I can't imagine working there.
