So, the interview process involved three rounds of interviews, which included a panel session with different team members. There was also a take-home project and a presentation over Zoom. They mentioned a potential in-person meeting as the final step. Unfortunately, they canceled my presentation, which was scheduled for an hour later, because they decided to 're-evaluate the position.' This happened after I had already completed the three interviews and spent a week on their sample case. It was incredibly unprofessional.

The hiring process went pretty well, taking about 3 to 4 weeks from the first chat with HR until the offer. It started with a quick HR screen, then I talked to the hiring manager for the role. After that, there was a technical interview with another biostatistician. They also gave me a take-home assignment to manage and analyze some data. The process wrapped up with another technical interview, this time a live R coding session with some data scientists.

The whole process took about 3.5 weeks and was pretty fast. Jeanne, my recruiter, was super responsive, usually getting back to me in under an hour. I started with a recruiter chat, then talked to the hiring manager, and a team member. After that, I had to do a presentation for a panel of people. There were a few quick follow-up chats right after the presentation, and I got the offer a week later. Jeanne was great and made everything clear. Everyone I met was friendly and paid attention. They seemed genuinely interested in making sure it was a good mutual fit, which I really liked.

Calls with a recruiter and technical manager, then a Karat technical screen. After that, a take-home assignment. The final stage was a virtual on-site day which included pair programming sessions where we expanded on the take-home assignment, a lunch with the team, and cross-functional meetings (with product manager types). I can't imagine a better or more humane technical interviewing process than PicnicHealth's. After the Karat screen, the entire process was incredibly personal and provided great opportunities to showcase my strengths and dig deeper into things that interested me. Although the onsite was fairly long, it flew by thanks to its customizable nature and the great folks at Picnic.
