Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PhonePe.
Android Developer
The first round was a technical interview covering a lot of Android topics.
- Tell me about Android architecture and modularisation.
- Can you explain the Android activity lifecycle?
- What are services in Android and how do they work?
Senior Android Developer
The first round was a DSA round, where they asked questions about Linear search and binary search applications, Binary tree application, and gave one graph question to calculate the shortest path. The interviewer was nice and sweet. The second round was the Platform round, which was taken by an Android developer. She was extremely rude and didn't listen to the point I was trying to make. Her concepts were not clear. She would start shouting and try to dominate you when you were giving the correct answer just to demean you.
- Shortest distance - graph
- Couroutine - concepts
- MVP vs MVVM
Senior Android Engineer
Phonepe has 5 rounds of interview. First is DS and PS, machine coding, 2 android interviews, and finally an HM round. The attitude of the guys who take the interviews is above the sky and they have the sense that they are a very superior company. PhonePe is almost a dead company in India. I do not understand why they have so much of an attitude during the interviews. For the next rounds also the person again with lots of attitudes and a sense of superiority was interested to listen only to what he knows and what he has read or knew. Judging a candidate just by asking a few DS and algo questions from geeksforgeeks does not make any sense. Overall I would recommend people to think twice before applying to this company, there are many other good companies to work for.
- In the DS and PS round, the interviewer asked me some geeksforgeeks questions like whether two strings are anagrams or not
- and to find the largest sum subarray from the given array.
- For the android interview, the interviewer asked some recycler view questions and was only interested to listen to what they wanted to hear.
