Government Affairs
So they sent me an initial email asking me to do a one-page market overview of rare earth feedstock producers outside of China for the next five years. After I submitted that, about two weeks later, they scheduled a 15-minute intro call. They said they have a structured process: Intro Call (15 min), Interview (30 min), Culture Fit Interview (30 min), Divisional Interview (90 min - deep dive, maybe in person), and then a background check and job offer. My initial call was bad, the interviewer was distracted and it wasn't a good experience. I don't recommend this company.
- Could you create a one-page market analysis highlighting the top five non-Chinese rare earth feedstock producers anticipated to serve the market in the coming five years?
Mechanical Engineer
So I interviewed at a company with about 90 people. They mentioned plans to build many factories globally, though it felt a bit exaggerated to me. They also said they're happy to provide sponsorship if needed. It seems like there's a significant workload.
- Are you able to come into the office daily?
Senior Chemical Engineer
HR reached out to me on LinkedIn, I didn't even apply. First, an HR interview, which I passed. Then, the second round with a VP, but they actually ghosted me and rescheduled. They originally said 3 interviews, but then they added a Chief of Staff interview before the final one. The final round was a case study, took me about 24 hours to prep. It had a presentation (30 mins), a Q&A (over an hour), and a site visit with 3 interviewers (tech VPs and directors). HR said they really liked me and I was a top candidate. HR followed up for 2 weeks, saying they were figuring out the best position for me. But then, they ghosted me completely, no emails, no texts. Total waste of time. They asked about willingness to work long hours, I said yes because I asked for a big salary bump for that. Seems like a chaotic org, you can feel it throughout the whole hiring process.
- How do you feel about working hard and long hours?
- Regarding your previous work, how does it connect to this role?
- Can you elaborate on the solutions you presented for our actual business problem?
Mechanical Engineering Leadership Development Program
The interview process was completely unprofessional and appallingly rude. It was shady from the start. The recruiter ran through a list of questions and couldn't answer any questions I had. The next interview was with the director of operations who skipped my first interview without notice and rescheduled it two days later. The interview went well, but it was hard to get a word in. The final interview was also rescheduled TWICE for unknown reasons, the second time being the morning of. Halfway through the final interview, the team decided to cut it short and basically walked out while I was still speaking without a word or goodbye. Very rude and unprofessional. The recruiter who was on the call had to do recon.
- They asked me to prepare a deep-dive technical presentation on issues that can arise during their end-to-end manufacturing and extraction processes, and how I would design a system to solve them.
