So, the interview process started with a recruiter call. Then I had a chat with the CEO, which was a surprisingly good conversation, and he seemed to really like me. After that, I had to do an assessment, which I found pretty straightforward. The last round was with my potential manager and a team member. They ended up not hiring me, citing that I was 'too ambitious,' which I suspect is just a polite way of saying I have more experience than they were looking for. It felt like a waste of my time, especially since I got the impression during that final meeting that they thought I was overqualified. It left a negative impression of Phocas.

Had an initial screening call with a Talent Advisor from Sydney. She was polite and informed. The phone screening was about 40 minutes. She mentioned my profile might not be strong but would recommend me to the GM. I got a follow-up call within a week with the outcome. Sadly, I didn't get through, but I appreciated the feedback on my experience gap. We ended on good terms, so I might be considered for future roles. I was impressed to hear back, as usually, it goes silent when you're not shortlisted. They really mean what they say. I can tell it would be a great place to work at Phocas Software.

A recruiter contacted me about the role and asked me to apply. After applying, we had to schedule a phone interview. But I was abroad and even though I suggested times that worked for a phone interview, they refused to set it up. A few weeks later, after not finding anyone, they reached out again and did schedule a phone interview. After that, there was supposed to be an in-person interview that I took time off work for, but they never confirmed it. A week later, they finally let me know they weren't moving forward with my application. All in all, it seemed they needed better communication and a more realistic schedule, and they didn't respect my prior work commitments.

Presentation Technical Behavioral

It started with submitting my CV. The first interview involved a presentation and Q&A. After that, I had to do some psychometric testing, and then there was a final interview. The presentation part was pretty formal, and they didn't give much direction, wanting to see how I'd approach it – I used the job description a lot for that. For the psychometric tests, it might be good to practice beforehand to get your best results, maybe brush up on some GCSE-level stuff. The last interview was all about me – my personality, why I'd be a good fit for Phocas, and also checking if the role was right for me.
