First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Philadelphia Insurance Companies.
Intern
The interview process went well and was organized. The interviewer was nice and made me feel comfortable. They asked about my past projects, my technical knowledge, and how I solve problems. It felt more like talking than a tough interview. It was a good experience, and I was glad to talk about myself and learn about the team.
- Can you discuss your previous projects and internship experience?
Claims Specialist
The interview process was a bit of a letdown, messy, and didn't really show what a professional employer would look like. It was a 90-minute Zoom call with an AVP and VP, which felt like the final round disguised as the first. They dug super deep into every job on my resume, asking about responsibilities and transitions in a lot of detail, way more than just 'walk me through your resume'. It was like an intense audit. One interviewer spent about 30 minutes talking about the company's history, which could have been shorter or sent beforehand. After that, I had to do a 90-minute Caliper Assessment on my own time, which felt unrelated to the job and should have been done before the long interview. Then, a recruiter called for 45 minutes to go over pay, benefits, schedules, and what's next, saying I'd hear back by the end of the day or early next week. After that, radio silence. I followed up when I didn't hear back and was told they were still 'working on it.' Another week went by. I emailed again, no reply. I called and left a message, still no reply. Finally, 24 hours after my call, I got a generic rejection email through Workday, with no personal contact or explanation. Not sure if the recruiter jumped the gun on discussing an offer, the job was canceled, or they just messed up internally, but it made me question their communication and professionalism. They didn't just miss expectations, they sent a rejection email too. Basically, it was too long, not structured well, and the follow-up was bad. Candidates need clear, timely communication and respect for their time, which they didn't really provide.
- Can you explain your reasons for leaving your previous role and what motivated that decision?
Summer Associate
It was a two-round interview process. The first was with HR, and they gave a really detailed explanation about the program. The second one was with some leaders. The interviewers were super friendly and mostly asked about my past experiences and what motivates me.
- What do you hope to gain from this internship?
Marketing Associate
It was a thorough and professional process, not too focused on my past experience. There were several interview rounds over a few weeks. They used a conversation-based approach. I had the chance to meet with upper management and other people in the same role.
- Can you tell me about how you build relationships when you're under a lot of pressure?
