The hiring manager interviewed me. He started by asking about past situations where I had to use my skills and experience to get past technical problems. Then, he asked some basic A+ level questions, like about using elevated command line prompts, how to use Windows Event Viewer for diagnosing performance issues, and what hardware would be recommended for a specific office setup.

It was tough to get in touch with the hiring manager initially, with long delays in responses. Suddenly, they had an urgent need for someone, and I was asked to interview. Finding the office was tricky as it's in a large complex with no clear signage. The interviewer was pleasant and asked standard questions. This was followed by a brief assessment including alphabetizing names, a multiple-choice drug name quiz, and a typing test. While these assessments weren't critical, strong performance could influence the decision if the interviewer was on the fence. The hiring process itself was standard, involving signing benefit paperwork. Be aware that the initial offer might be subject to change by corporate; I know someone whose offered pay was reduced after the initial discussion.

I interviewed with the District Sales Manager. He was a friendly, positive guy and we had a good conversation. Most of the interview involved him explaining the compensation plan using a pen and easel. I thought this was a bit weird, maybe he was trying to see how I'd react to the potential salary. He also kept saying how this territory was the toughest in the country and not expected to grow much. Honestly, he seemed to be giving a lot of reasons why someone wouldn't want this job. It worked, because I withdrew from the process the next day.
