First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Phaidon International.
Sales Representative
The interview process was straightforward but took a while. Everyone I met was really nice and seemed interested in getting to know me. It was hard to get a feel for the company culture though. There were a lot of rounds, and they all felt pretty similar. I didn't really learn much about the company.
- Could you tell me what you know about Phaidon and how it stands apart from its competitors?
Sales
It was a bunch of phone calls first, then some virtual interviews with HR, and then a full day in person to see if I'm a good fit. It took a while, but the HR team kept in touch and updated me pretty regularly.
- Can you tell me about your career goals and why you're interested in this industry?
- What are your aspirations and why do you want to work in this field?
- What can you tell me about our company?
Sales
The interview process involved two phone screenings and a full-day group interview. The initial call covered my interest, past experience, perceived strengths, future aspirations, and understanding of the role. The second interview was a timed sales pitch over the phone to the recruiter. The group interview had two parts: the morning consisted of introductions, company overview, an exercise where I had to gather info from a partner and then pitch them, followed by a mock client presentation in larger teams. The afternoon focused on cold calling and sales floor practice. I found the company culture a bit immature and very money-focused, losing interest after the interview. However, the people in my group were nice. The recruiters managed the selection process well. During an elimination phase, we were split into groups and told if we made it. My group was the 'F-No' group, which felt embarrassing as we were clearly identified as the ones going home. I suggested mixing groups in the future, perhaps with at least one 'yes' per group, to maintain interviewees' dignity.
- Given your partner has face-to-face sales experience, what makes you believe they would excel in a phone-based role?
- How would you argue that you are a better candidate than your partner?
- Your partner is interested in the 'X' department, but we don't have openings there. How do you anticipate they would adapt to a different department?
