First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pfizer.
Director
I had a phone screen with the recruiter, and then a few weeks later, I spoke with the hiring manager. The whole process after applying online felt long because we had to wait for updates from an AI assistant. This AI assistant would chime in every couple of weeks with a generic 'still reviewing' message, and it wasn't really a sign of whether I was moving forward.
- What motivates you to want to join Pfizer?
Director
I applied online and heard back from a Pfizer recruiter manager about 10 days later. The first interview was a panel with three senior execs from North America and Europe over WebEx. It was a behavioral Q&A. The second interview was at Pfizer HQ in New York with two senior execs, focusing on my experience managing international teams, leadership style, and past projects. The final interview was with a senior HR exec in New York, covering more behavioral questions and Pfizer's culture. The recruitment process was very professional and they have a great working culture.
- What are your key metrics for determining project success?
- Describe a time you took charge of a tough situation and successfully changed a corporate policy.
- What strategies do you use to reduce risk throughout a project's lifecycle?
Director
First I interviewed with a headhunting firm for a retained search, then I had a full day of onsite interviews. It was a strange interview, it felt like the person leading it was just going through the motions. The day started with a one-hour presentation (45 min. for me, 15 min. for questions), but the projector wasn't working so we lost about 10 minutes waiting for IT. The host was late, sat in the back, and didn't introduce himself after the presentation. The rest of the day was one-on-one interviews, some with two interviewers. They all had a 4-page packet they used to ask questions and take notes. The questions were mostly normal, but some were odd, like asking what animal I'd be and why. Some questions seemed irrelevant to the job, and when I asked for clarification, they just wanted *something* to write down. I got the feeling they were under pressure to fill out the forms completely. The interview felt very political, and I didn't get an offer. I later found out the offer went to someone who job-hops a lot, and I suspect an 'old boys club' situation, as the role and the chosen candidate were both male. Even though I was sourced by a headhunter, it didn't feel like a real interview. I think they just wanted to appear like they were considering women, but weren't serious about it. I eventually got a Director position elsewhere. Because of this bad experience, I've stopped using Pfizer products.
- If you could be any animal, which would you choose to be and why?
