First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PetSmart.

It started with a Video interview with 4 questions. Record yourself and answer questions given on the screen. You have two tries to do it. From the time they sent you an email invitation you only have two days to complete the video.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- What is your motivation for applying to Petsmart?

Went through a long and tough interview process. My impression is that the compensation for the role was really good, though I didn't get the job. I spoke with several interviewers and was interviewing for a few hours. Many questions were pretty general. I showed up way too formally dressed (nobody tipped me off that jeans and t-shirts are the norm there), and I got feedback about not having enough experience in their specific industry (though honestly, how would you get prior experience unless you worked for PetCo or a few other companies in the field?). Anyway, the questions are behavioral and come from HR. To be honest, the questions don't have much depth.
- Can you describe a situation where multiple people or departments needed something from you simultaneously? How did you manage it?

The interview process at PetSmart was quite lengthy and disorganized. It took a month from applying to get a phone screening, and then another month to set up an in-person interview. The initial in-person interviews were fairly standard. After a few weeks, I was informed the role was filled internally but that they were interested in me for two other positions. This led to another phone screen the following week, and then another in-person interview scheduled three weeks later. However, one of the interviewers was still on maternity leave, which caused further delays. After the in-person interview, I had a Skype call with the interviewer who was initially unavailable. After approximately three months of this drawn-out process, no offer was extended. I wouldn't have accepted the job by then anyway. Based on this recruiting experience, I suspect internal operations might also be unorganized. I've heard similar stories about PetSmart from others in the Phoenix area.
- What attracts you to PetSmart?
- Are you a pet owner?
