The interview process involved multiple interviews and significant preparation time, requiring me to take time off from my current job. After weeks of waiting and continuous follow-ups, I discovered I had been ghosted. It's important to have the integrity to respond to candidates who offer their time and energy.

Had a good phone interview first, then they flew me out. Got shown around, met the main engineering people. Felt like it could be a good fit. Got a good sense of how the company worked and how projects moved forward. Got the feeling that people stayed a long time and liked it there. The cubicle setup is a bit of a downer though. Didn't meet anyone from HR, so no info on benefits or perks. Got positive feedback after the interview and they said they liked me. Then the recruiter mentioned a new hiring freeze, which seemed strange.

I had a really good connection with the recruiter and then did a few remote interviews with the hiring manager, CEO, and some other leaders. After that, I had to make a 6-hour trip for an onsite interview. All the interviews were pretty laid-back and conversational. They mainly asked about my past experience and how I'd handle specific scenarios, nothing too intense. Unfortunately, after the onsite, I never heard back despite reaching out multiple times. It felt really unprofessional and like a total waste of my time, costing me a whole day of billable hours.

There were a few steps to the interview. First, I had a phone call with HR. Then, I interviewed with the Director of Marketing and someone who currently works in the role. After that went well, there were panel interviews to meet the whole team and talk with more senior managers. It was a little scary but also felt like I was interviewing them. They really care about finding someone who fits the culture and the job, and they want people who will stay for a long time.
