The interview process was fun and the staff were really nice. It was a smooth process with a short trial shift where they gave a basic rundown on the products and what the next steps would be if I was selected. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and they took their time to make sure I understood the job.

I applied online and answered some basic questions about customer service experiences and hypothetical scenarios like what animal I'd be. Then I was invited to an in-store group interview with about 5 other people for the same role. We did 3 group tasks: first, a 'get to know you' where we shared about our pets. Second, we had to build a hamster maze with a real hamster, which was fun and tested teamwork and communication. Third, we did a 'product pitch' idea generation similar to Dragons Den. It was a really relaxed process, surprisingly easy. Afterward, a team member had an informal chat with me about my past work history, availability, and commute. Unfortunately, I lived too far away to make the early morning shifts feasible.

The process felt like the job was already decided before it started, with one candidate seemingly favored due to existing friendships with staff. The actual interview seemed to involve introducing ourselves, choosing a pet, and a group activity to sell a product. The store manager was nice, but other staff seemed uninterested in most candidates except the favored one. The final 'interview' was very short and frequently interrupted, with the interviewer appearing disengaged. The process concluded with a generic rejection email.
