Applied in a few days and had a team call with the area manager. It was a chat with a few questions about my experience and why I wanted to work for Pets at Home. It was very relaxed; I was really worried as I hadn't had an interview for over 18 years. It was like a chat about myself and my experience. The next day, I got a call for the next stage, which was a trial shift. I loved every minute of it. They gave me a trolley of items to put out while talking to a staff member. I also had to handle some animals, which was lovely. Then I had a go on the tills, which was amazing. The final stage of the trial was another chat with a senior manager, who asked me questions. It was an amazing experience, and within an hour of getting home, I was offered the job. Great process, and I can't wait to start.

Behavioral Technical

This was a real emotional rollercoaster! I applied for the role and initially got a blank email, which I thought was a rejection. But then I got another email inviting me for an interview. When I arrived, the associate seemed confused when I asked for the interviewer. I was told interviews were running late and I was asked to do a trial shift on the tills, even though supervisory experience was a requirement. The cashier gave me a very basic induction. Eventually, the interviewer collected me, and we had a nice chat about my background and interests. They even made me tea, which was lovely. The interview felt more like a chat than anything else. At the end, they asked for my shirt and trouser size, which seemed odd. I left feeling good about it, despite the shaky start. I was told I'd hear back the next day, but it's been a week, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job.

Behavioral Technical Presentation Case

The interview process has 3 stages. The first stage is a short phone interview, about half an hour long, mainly for initial introductions and basic background questions, referencing your CV. Stage 2 is a comprehensive 3-hour working interview. It starts with a SWOT analysis of the business, involving site visits and competitor analysis. You're expected to gather information independently, like observing store layouts, product displays, and talking to customers. Then, you report your findings to the interviewing managers. This is followed by spending time with a shop floor colleague and serving on a till for about half an hour each, to understand store operations and sales. Next, you have to prepare and verbally deliver a training guide on two products within a 10-minute timeframe. This is followed by a grilling session on product knowledge from a customer's perspective. If you don't know an answer, it's better to admit it and seek help than to guess. The interview concludes with a 1-2 or 2-1 discussion with the managers, which is informal and conversational. Stage 3 involves a 2-hour interview with a regional manager. This interview includes a presentation on hosting a company team meeting, using provided statistics, and lasts about 10 minutes. It also includes follow-up questions from previous rounds and summing up questions. The process can be lengthy due to manager availability, but this allows time for research. The environment is friendly and informal.
