Had an interview with the operations manager and the regional medical director where we talked about my interest in working with the company. Then we went over my background and experiences. I also learned more about the role. After that, I met with the DVM at the center and discussed my background and experiences again.

I went through a 5-person interview loop that was completed in just under two weeks. The final interview involved visiting a store and sending in my feedback, which I did even though it was extra effort because I was really keen on the role. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them. They didn't bother to reply even after I reached out, and neither did the recruiter. It's okay if I wasn't the right fit, but a response would have been polite. It felt like a waste of my time.

I had applied through their on-line application several times with no response. I was able to get an interview by having a current employee speak to her manager. I was contacted via phone (on a Sunday night!) for an interview the following Thursday. I went dressed well in a suit and thought I had a great interview/conversation about my passion for animals and animal care and my work experience in the field. He seemed very enthusiastic about my application, too. Alas, I never heard back from him even after I called to follow-up.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • What makes you want to work for a large retailer when your experience is mostly with small, independent businesses?
  • How would you handle a coworker who is being insubordinate or belligerent about the schedule?
