I put in an application online on a Friday, and by the next Monday, they called me for a 15 minute phone chat with HR. The person calling was a little late and sounded really rushed and not very personal. They skipped the small talk and went straight to asking questions. After I answered each one, they just moved on to the next without even acknowledging my response. At the end, I didn't get a chance to ask any questions, and they just told me what happens next. They said they'd send their notes and I'd hear back within an hour about whether I'd proceed. They were quick about it and I got an email within an hour saying they weren't moving forward. While I liked how fast they were, I wish I'd spoken to someone who actually seemed interested in what I had to say. My suggestion is to make the first step better and have someone who's genuinely interested in the candidate interview people. Honestly, I'm not even upset about not moving forward with them after that experience.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I don’t usually write reviews, but my interview experience with Personify truly stood out, and I felt compelled to share. This was the best Interview Journey and positive impression, I’ve have ever had through out the years. From start to finish, every step of the process was handled with the utmost respect and professionalism. The HR Recruiter's communication was responsive, personal, and efficient, setting a positive tone through out the entire journey. My screening interview was thorough and engaging, followed by a second interview with two managers, including the one I’d report to. Both were genuine, professional, and embody the company’s values, making it clear they truly wanted to understand my experience and share insights about the role. The assignment provided was clear, directly relevant to the position, and respectful of my time - an opportunity to showcase my skills in a meaningful way. Their appreciation for my effort was evident, as was their transparency throughout the process. Then the final interview with the Director was just as impressive as the managers, with insightful and genuine discussions. It is rare to have such a cohesive set of values through out the levels of management like this. In the end, I received an offer, and there wasn’t a moment when I felt undervalued. Personify genuinely lives its values, and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone considering their next career step to explore opportunities here.

The interview started with a phone call with an HR person from their main office. After that, I had a call the next day with some technical questions. Then, I had to do an online psych and IQ test which I could do after work. The scores were sent to the Austin HR team and I passed those. Next, I had a technical phone interview with the Technical Manager at their main office, which got rescheduled 3 times. It lasted 1 hour and the manager asked questions from all over the software stack (front, middle, and database backend), saying that it was okay if I didn't know the answers. I followed up by email two weeks later but never heard back.

So the process was pretty good, it had 3 phone interviews in total. First with HR, then the EPIC Program Manager, and lastly a Senior Software Engineer. They were all super friendly and easy to chat with. I also had to do an online personality test and a cognitive aptitude test. They were pretty easy, but I did prepare beforehand with some online practice tests to refresh my basic math. The Engineer mentioned I'd have to do a Codility test online and then an algorithm whiteboarding session. Turns out he was misinformed, which was a huge relief! I was actually studying algorithms and data structures for a week before I got the offer. It's a great chance for an entry-level technical role at a fast-growing SaaS company!
