I applied online and got an employee referral. I was shortlisted for an online interview. Two employees interviewed me. They were nice and after about 10 minutes, my nervousness went away. I introduced myself and then walked them through two projects from my portfolio. They also talked about the company and I got to ask my questions. I had a feeling I might not get the offer because one interviewer gave off a strange vibe.

I chatted with the design team I would have joined, which was a good conversation, and then I spoke with HR. The HR person mostly talked about how great the Perkins and Will workplace culture is, using a 'group drone photo' as an example of their pride. It was a bit difficult to listen to and felt unnatural, as I don't think culture is built on taking a drone photo. It was really hard to relate to them because it sounded like they were drinking the corporate kool-aid. That part felt very corporate.

Behavioral Presentation

I talked to the Chief Talent Officer for this senior talent acquisition leadership role. I was upfront, responded quickly, and sent over a strategy deck I made that addressed the challenges we talked about. But after that, I didn't hear anything back, not even a quick note. I know things can change with hiring, but it was weird to not get any communication after the interview and follow-up, especially from someone in a high-level People role. It makes me wonder how they really see professionalism and treating candidates well. For a company that's supposed to be well-known, I hope Perkins&Will thinks about improving their candidate experience.

I interviewed twice for a role at Perkins&Will. The first was a group virtual meeting with several team members, and the second was an in-person interview. I put in effort with these interviews and sent a thank you, but heard nothing back. Over a few weeks, I tried following up a bunch of times, even hitting up the HR manager on LinkedIn, but got zero response. I know hiring can take a while, but not hearing anything is a bummer. It makes the company look unprofessional and like they don't care about candidates. Perkins&Will should really step up their follow-up game and be more upfront with people so they don't feel left hanging.
