I applied for the role. A recruiter contacted me to schedule an interview. Two Product Managers interviewed me about my past experiences to see if they matched the required skillset. The interview seemed positive. They asked if I preferred the Birmingham or London office. I said I was open to both, but Birmingham would be easier if feasible. A week later, the recruiter emailed saying I was a great fit but they were only hiring for the London office. I found this confusing and a poor response since I mentioned I was open to both locations.

The interview process at TravelPerk was the best I've had anywhere, and made a real difference in my job choice. My recruiter contact in particular was brilliant - providing regular updates, detailed round-by-round feedback, and taking the time to jump on a call with me anytime I had any questions. In addition, the PMs who interviewed me were all very friendly, and my Team Lead jumped on a call with me at the Offer Stage to give me a detailed walkthrough of the job and any questions I had. This really sets the benchmark for how interviews should happen, and greatly influenced my choice to join TravelPerk over other companies. The process follows a sequential order, where you must progress through each stage to reach the next: Stage 1 1. Screening call with Recruiter (30 minutes) Stage 2 2. Depth of Expertise interview with PMs (1 hour) Stage 3 3.1 Case Study with PMs (3-5 days allowed to prepare + 1 hour presentation) 3.2 Culture Fit interview with team member (1 hour) Stage 4 4. Team Lead(s) interview (2 x 30 minutes, will vary depending on team)

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

So, about a year back, I went for this APM role at TravelPerk, which is kinda for new folks in product management. My chat with HR was good, and I think TravelPerk is decent. But, there were some things. They talk a lot about being diverse and inclusive, and we even spent some time on that in the first call. But, it was all guys interviewing me, and their top leaders are four men – you can see it on their site. That was a bit of a warning sign, but the APM thing looked cool, so I went ahead. Later, they hit me with a case study about their business strategy and future, which felt weird because, like, they're the ones who know their business. Why ask entry-level folks to answer CEO-level questions? The case study interview itself got great feedback, super enthusiastic comments like 'excellent' and 'amazing thought!' But then, the actual feedback after was mostly negative and felt kinda personal. They said I used 'a lot of jargon' and quoted something I never said. They also commented on my English, which was odd since I studied in the UK and the interviewer wasn't a native speaker. Basically, they made me sound incompetent. My data work was called 'basic,' and the only good thing was a 'surprisingly clear idea.' This was wild because I'd already passed other interviews with them, interviewed with Spotify and Meta, and got another offer shortly after. I just figured maybe I wasn't what they were looking for. What really shocked me, though, wasn't the bad feedback, but how the senior managers acted. The guy interviewing me was a big deal in product and the APM program. The way he gave feedback to someone just starting out was way too harsh. It makes you wonder how that affects people's careers and shows a real lack of empathy.
