Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Performance Food Group.
Area Manager
The hiring process took three steps. First, I spoke with HR. Then, I interviewed with the person who would be my manager. Finally, I met with the VP of sales. It was a really straightforward process, and they were quick to give me feedback.
- Tell me about your favorite restaurant.
Operations Manager
PFG uses an ATS to scan resumes. I also got a text from paradox.ai asking basic questions (legal status, prior work, ability, salary). I found out I was rejected on my candidate dashboard on their job posting page. They didn't tell me directly and let me think I was still in the running, and it's bad that a computer made the decision.
- Hi, I'm Olivia, the recruiting AI Assistant for Core-Mark. We have received your application for the Operations Analyst position and I have a few questions for you! Are you still interested?
- Are you legally able to work in the United States?
- Have you previously worked for any PFG Company (Core-Mark, Eby-Brown, or Vistar)? 1. Yes 2. No
Area Manager
I was emailed to set up an interview time and responded within 24 hours with my availability and thanking the individual for the opportunity, but was never contacted again by the district sales manager. This was very unprofessional in my opinion: if you can't even get a response from management in the interview process I can't imagine the lack of support they plan on giving an individual who accepts a position. Perhaps this is partially why PFG is substantially smaller than its competitors.
- What is your availability?
